LINCOLN, IL : Interstate 55 northbound near milepost 125 shut down for fatal traffic crash on Monday, 3rd June 2024

Interstate 55 is now back open.

The northbound lane of Interstate 55 near Lincoln has been shut down because of two vehicle crash involving two truck tractor semi-trailers.

This crash happened Monday morning around 1:30 a.m.

One of the semis was traveling southbound on Interstate 55, and for unknown reasons, lost control and drove through the median and stuck the other semi head-on. There is one confirmed fatality and three individuals have been transported to local area hospitals for injuries sustained in the crash.
