NORTH AUGUSTA, SC : 2 Transportation workers struck and killed in Aiken County on Monday, March 13th 2017

Two South Carolina transportation workers have been struck and killed in a hit and run near North Augusta.

South Carolina Highway Patrol Sgt. Bob Beres said the collision happened shortly after 8:30 a.m. Monday just east of Interstate 520 near the Georgia-South Carolina state line.

Beres said a tan vehicle hit three transportation workers and two of them died. SCDOT identified those workers as 54-year-old Tony Redmond and 64-year-old Robert Clark.

The third worker suffered only minor injuries. Beres did not know what the DOT workers were doing at the time.

Beres said troopers are checking a vehicle found nearby to determine if it hit the victims. The driver of that vehicle has not been found.
