Officials identify Dublin motorcyclist who died in fiery crash on California

A motorcyclist who died in a fiery crash Saturday on Interstate 680 near the Sun Valley Mall was identified by the Contra Costa County Coroner's Office as 53-year-old Dublin resident Randall Black.
The California Highway Patrol said Monday that Black was pronounced dead upon arrival at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek after his motorcycle hit a Honda Accord that was on the left shoulder near the center divide. The wreck happened just after 7 p.m., south of the Willow Pass Road exit. The Honda had become disabled, spun around after hitting the divide and was facing north when Black's 2002 Suzuki ran into it while heading south on I-680, CHP Officer and spokesman John Fransen said. The CHP has not determined why the Honda became disabled, but it caught fire after the collision and Contra Costa Fire Protection District crews were called to extinguish it. The driver of the Honda was not injured, Fransen said.It is not known yet whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the wreck, Fransen said.
