2 killed in pair of fatal wrecks

A Casper, Wyo., man who officials say wasn’t wearing a seat belt died early Friday morning after he was ejected from a pickup that struck a ditch and overturned adjacent to U.S. Highway 1804.At 1:09 a.m., the 59-year-old man, the lone occupant in the vehicle, was traveling eastbound on Highway 1804 about three miles east of Williston to an unknown destination at an unknown speed, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.The 2011 Chevrolet pickup entered the south ditch and began to overturn. It then vaulted off of the intersecting road, 132nd Trail NW, struck a traffic sign and mailboxes and came to rest on its passenger side facing west in an adjacent field.The driver was ejected into the field on the east side of the intersecting road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.The North Dakota Highway Patrol and the Williams County Sheriff’s Department investigated the crash.In a seperate incident early Saturday, a 45-year-old female from Phoenix was killed and three others were injured in a one-car accident.The 2000 Ford F150 was traveling westbound on McKenzie County Road 20 from Arnegard toward Alexander at an unknown speed.The driver lost control of the vehicle on the gravel road and spunt inot the south ditch where it rolled over and came to rest on its wheels in a harvested field.The driver was killed as a result of the incident. One of the three passengers refused medical attention.The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and said alcohol was a factor.
