New York, NY : 17-year-old dies after being hit by car in Queens on Tuesday, December 8, 2015

The NYPD says a car struck and killed a 17-year-old boy in Queens and took off.

Police say it happened around 10:50 p.m. Tuesday while 17-year-old Jaremello Ovidio was trying to cross a street.

Investigators say a black Toyota Camry hit the Queens teen and fled the scene.

Ovidio was taken to Elmhurst hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The NYPD is searching for the driver of the car.
