York,ME : Police arrest suspect after assault, multiple hit-and-runs on July, Sunday 16th 2017
After an overnight manhunt, Maine State Police arrested Mark McLean at approximately 10 a.m. Sunday.
Maine State Police said they arrested McLean, 51, of Kittery, after they received a tip of McLean walking to a family member’s residence in Lyman, Maine, according to Sgt. Steve Spofford of the York Police Department. Before being transferred to York County Jail, McLean was treated for minor cuts and abrasions at a local hospital, according to Spofford.
According to Spofford, McLean was wanted after he allegedly fled the scene of an aggravated domestic violence assault at the Microtel in York on Friday night. Police said McLean is charged with aggravated domestic violence assault, a class B felony, and four misdemeanor charges, which are criminal restraint, domestic violence threatening, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and two counts of leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
According to Sgt. Brian Curtin of the York Police Department, McLean allegedly got into a physical altercation with his girlfriend at the Microtel before 9 p.m. Friday when police were called. According to Curtin, while police were interviewing the victim, the York Communications Center began receiving calls reporting a car, allegedly driven by McLean, struck another car and the guardrail on Spur Road before getting on Interstate 95 southbound. The car McLean was allegedly driving belonged to his girlfriend, according to Curtin.
