DOVER, NH : Motorcyclist critically injured in crash in Dover on Thursday, October, 19th 2017
State police are investigating a serious motorcycle accident in Dover.A serious motor vehicle crash occurred at 1:20 p.m. Thursday on Route 16 southbound.
The crash involved one vehicle, a 2000 BMW motorcycle, driven by Donald Pelletier, 59, of Dover.
Police said Pelletier lost control of the motorcycle as it entered a sweeping righthand curve in the area of Exit 9. The motorcycle hit the guardrail on the left side of the roadway and went down on its side. Pelletier was ejected from the motorcycle before it came to a rest.
It was reported that Pelletier was traveling southbound along with a black Cadillac driven by a man and a silver Mercedes driven by a woman with blonde hair. State police are in the process of identifying these vehicles and would like to speak to the drivers.
Pelletier suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Wentworth Douglas Hospital in Dover, then later transferred to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.
The collision remains under investigation. It does not appear that impairment was a factor in the collision, but all aspects are still under investigation, including speed and/or distraction.
Route 16 southbound in the area of Exit 9 was closed for approximately three hours while the investigation took place.
