James City County, VA : Fatal vehicle crash in James City County closing all lanes on Pocahontas Trail on Thursday, 16th May 2024

Two people died following a car crash in James City County early Thursday morning, police say.

James City County Police say emergency personnel were called to Pocahontas Trail near Howard Drive around 2:20 a.m.

Based on eyewitness accounts and a preliminary investigation, police said a 2007 Acura TSR was driving east on Pocahontas Trail at a high rate of speed when it went off the road and hit a utility pole, knocking live power lines down onto the roadway. Nearby propane tanks were also damaged in the crash, creating a hazardous leakage.
