A 17-year-old Saint Johns man is dead following a single-car wreck Wednesday night on Longleaf Pine Parkway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.Michael Jarek Sonognini was dead at the scene of the 8:30 p.m. crash that occurred south of Greenbrier Road in Saint Johns, the Highway Patrol said.Sonognini was going north in a Lexus when he lost control for unknown reasons, according to the Highway Patrol. The Lexus went into the center median, then onto the southbound lanes before it overturned. The teen was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the car, the Highway Patrol said.

Sonognini was a senior at Creekside High School, where county school officials have sent grief counselors to help students who might need them, according to school officials.
