MERRILLVILLE, IN : A three-vehicle crash on southbound I-65 at the 254 mile marker near 61st Avenue on Wednesday, 19th February, 2020

Multiple people were sent to the hospital following a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 65 that led to another wreck Wednesday night, police said.

At 7:41 p.m. police responded to a crash between three vehicles on southbound I-65 at the 254 mile marker near 61st Avenue, Indiana State Police said.

The crash resulted in a large traffic jam, in which two vehicles in the back-up crashed near the same area in the southbound lanes, police said.

As of 9:45 p.m., the wrecks were cleared and traffic was moving through the area.

Among both crashes, multiple people were sent to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Reports of injuries from the wrecks were not yet complete Wednesday night and it is unknown how many were injured in each crash, police said.
