Clayton Tyler Henning, 33, of Holland, Texas, was killed after colliding with a concrete barrier while leading Bell County Sheriff’s Department deputies on a high-speed chase on US 190 in Heidenheimer, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

At about 10 p.m. on Jan. 18, deputies initiated a traffic stop on a 2015 GMC Sierra pickup truck near Rogers.

The deputies observed signs of impairment from driver, identified as Henning, DPS said. “As deputies attempted to check Henning’s sobriety, Henning placed the truck in drive and drove away,” the state law enforcement agency said.

Deputies attempted to stop Henning with lights and sirens activated but Henning refused to stop and continued to elude the deputies in his GMC pickup, DPS said.
