Topeka ,KS : Three hospialized after Two Car crash at north of N.W. 25th in the southbound lanes of US-75 highway on Tuesday morning , March 17th 2015
One person suffered what authorities said were potentially life-threatening injuries in a crossover, two-car crash late Tuesday morning on a four-lane divided highway just north of Topeka.
The accident was reported at 11 a.m. just north of N.W. 25th in the southbound lanes of US-75 highway.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said the crash occurred when a black, four-door 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt that had been traveling north on US-75 highway veered off onto the right shoulder and over-corrected.
The Chevrolet crossed back over both lanes of northbound traffic on US-75 highway, then went across a grassy median and slammed into a red, two-door 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS that was traveling in the southbound lanes of US-75.
After impact, the Chevrolet spun around and ended up facing northeast in the right southbound lane of US-75 highway.
The Mitsubishi, meanwhile, continued traveling south and left the roadway after about 100 yards, coming to rest facing west in a grassy area on the right side of US-75.
Officers at the scene said the driver of the Mitsubishi, later identified as Connor Scott Cummings, 17, of Topeka, suffered serious injuries in the crash. Cummings was taken by American Medical Response ambulance to a Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center. The patrol said Cummings was wearing a seat belt.
