New Orleans , LA : 70-year-old bicyclist killed after collision with pickup truck driven by off-duty New Orleans police officer on Sunday ,May 17th 2015

New Orleans police say an off-duty officer heading home after a shift Sunday night struck and killed a 70-year-old bicyclist.

Police say in a news release that the accident occurred shortly after 11:00 p.m. when the bicyclist and a pickup truck collided at an intersection.

Police say the bicyclist was pronounced dead on the scene. The off-duty officer was not injured in the crash. Neither has been identified.

The coroner's office is conducting an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Blood and toxicology tests are pending.

The incident remains under investigation.
