MIDDLETOWN, CT : Deadly crash closes parts of I-91 in Middletown on Sunday, 24th December 2023

A woman has died as a result of a crash on I-91 northbound on Christmas Day.

Connecticut State Police have identified the woman who died as 74-year-old Verona Facey.

Crews first responded around 9 a.m. to reports of a two-vehicle collision near exit 20 on-ramp.

According to police, Marcelino Labella, 53, from Massachusetts was traveling on I-91 northbound in the center lane.

The driver of the second car, 19-year-old Nicholas L. Graham, was also driving northbound in the right lane next to Labella’s car.

There were two other people in the car with Nicholas identified as Angela Graham, 57, and Verona Facey, 74, all from Brooklyn, NY.

For an unknown reason, Nicholas veered into the center lane and collided with Labella.

Labella then shifted into the grassy center median where his car rolled over. The other car did the same.

While Labella did not sustain any injuries, Nicholas had minor injuries and Angela suffered serious injuries.
