Fordland, MO : Driver from Sparta died in a rollover crash between two vehicles on U.S. 60 on Thursday afternoon, March 24, 2016
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a driver from Sparta died in a rollover crash between two vehicles on U.S. 60 on Thursday afternoon. Troopers arrested the other driver, a woman from Mansfield, on suspicion of driving while impaired and involuntary manslaughter.
Troopers said a 202 Cadillac Escalade driven by Teresa Clark, 67, ran into the back of a 1995 Toyota 4Runner driven by Michael Dezura, 68. The 4Runner went off the highway and overturned. Dezura died at the scene. Clark refused medical treatment at the scene.
Troopers said neither driver was wearing a seat belt. By law, Clark was tested to see if she was driving impaired. That test is what led to her arrest; formal charges will be up to the Webster County prosecuting attorney.
The crash happened shortly after 1 p.m. at Highway PP in Fordland. Both vehicles were eastbound. Troopers said Fordland police assisted with the investigation, which included a Highway Patrol accident reconstruction team.
