FRESNO, CA : 40-year-old identified as southeast Fresno crash on Saturday, 20th July 2019

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim of the Saturday night southeast Fresno crash as Shawn Milton, 40.

He has five children, two boys, three girls, and one on the way, due in August, according to his GoFundMe page.

He died at the scene when an alleged DUI driver, identified as Gustavo Blanco, 21, blew through a red light, hitting Milton’s car at Kings Canyon Road and Maple Avenue around 10 p.m.

Milton died at the scene, police say, and his passenger was taken to Community Regional Medical Center. He is in critical condition, but stable.

We spoke with Shawn Milton’s mother over the phone. The family still in disbelief and heartbroken.

Milton’s mother, Dorothy Milton telling us her son was giving his friend, who is at CRMC, a ride when they were hit.

“I loved my son, he had such a good heart, he loved his children,” says Dorothy Milton, Shawn Milton’s mother.

A mother heartbroken, reeling from the sudden loss of her son.

“I didn’t get to give my son a hug before he died,” she expressed.

Milton says her son was giving his friend a ride Saturday night when they were T-boned by another car.

Fresno Police say 21-year-old Gustavo Blanco was driving under the influence, when they say Blanco blew through a red light near Kings Canyon and Maple crashing into Milton’s car, killing him instantly.

Milton’s mother describing when she got the phone call, “I got the phone call from the sheriff’s coroner at 1:10 in the a.m. telling me my son was in a car wreck and that they had his body and they identified him with his finger prints.”

After that Milton’s mother, who lives in Chowchilla says she did not know what to do.

“It’s not like I can go to him and hold him,” she expressed.

Milton, a father to five and one on the way, due in August. His oldest just graduated from high school.

Dorothy says she called him first.

“Basically after I told him, I sat there and listened to his son cry and that’s all I did was sit there and listened to him cry,” she explained.

The whole family now left shedding tears over their loved one, who’s life was cut short too soon.

Milton’s mother says the man who allegedly killed her son, ruined his life Saturday night as well.

“It’s absolutely horrible, it’s mind-boggling,” she says.
