One person was killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer unit on Route 9 in Chesterfield

One person was killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer unit on Route 9 in Chesterfield on Wednesday night.

According to authorities, the tractor-trailer slid off the side of the road and into the snow-covered embankment. Officers think the driver tried to get out of the truck, and when they arrived, they found him pinned underneath the vehicle.

Rescue crews tried to extricate the driver, but were unsuccessful and he died on scene.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
