Green Valley, AZ : Four members of family injured in I-19 on Monday, February 20th 2017
A crash on Interstate 19 Monday left four members of the same family with serious injuries and a traffic jam that stretched for miles.
The crash happened about 5 p.m. on southbound I-19 just north of Pima Mine Road and involved two vehicles, though one just peripherally, according to a Rural/Metro spokeswoman. No other details were available.
Two family members in a small SUV were taken by helicopter and two by ground to a Tucson hospital.
Traffic was backed up six miles at one point, with vehicles getting by on the shoulder. Eventually, I-19 was closed at Papago Road and vehicles were turned around.
