A 29-year-old Maine man involved in a fatal head-on crash has pleaded not guilty to charges unrelated to the accident.
Authorities say Jason Heath, of Bethel, was the driver of a vehicle in a head-on collision Friday that killed 47-year-old Susan Isham, of Bethel.
That Heath was arrested Friday night at Rumford Hospital after a small amount of heroin was found in his vehicle at the time of the collision.
He was arraigned via videoconference Monday afternoon in Lewiston District Court and pleaded not guilty to unlawful possession of drugs and violation of bail conditions. A judge set his bail at $10,000.
Heath is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 15.
Authorities say the cause of the crash is under investigation. No charges have been filed.
