Carlisle, PA : Middlesex Township police officer hurt in crash Monday, December 19, 2016

A Middlesex Township police officer was injured when his vehicle collided with a truck on the Harrisburg Pike Monday evening, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Carlisle.

The officer, who authorities did not identify, was traveling east on the Harrisburg Pike when his 2015 Ford Explorer failed to come to a complete halt for traffic that was stopped at a traffic signal at Cook Drive, state police said. The marked police vehicle struck the rear of a 2004 Freightliner, state police said.

The officer was taken to Hershey Medical Center by Life Lion helicopter. No condition for the officer was available last night.

The driver of the Freightliner did not report any injuries. His vehicle suffered minor damage and was operational, state police said. The police vehicle had to be towed away.
