Morgan County, CO : Fatal head-on crash in Morgan County south of Fort Morgan on Sunday, 19th January, 2020
A head-on crash between a semi truck and a car Sunday afternoon left one person dead and led to a hazardous spill of more than 100 gallons of diesel fuel, forcing a five-hour closure along Colorado 71 on the high plains northeast of Denver.The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. in Morgan County south of Fort Morgan. Colorado State Patrol dispatchers sent a trooper to help deal with the diesel spill, agency spokesman Cpl. Ivan Alvarado said.
Local authorities re-opened the highway around 8 p.m.
No information was available on the person killed in the crash, Alvarado said. It wasn’t clear whether the diesel contaminated water.
