A routine traffic stop leads to a car chase and arrest of a 26-year-old man.
A sheriff deputy from Washington County were attempting to stop a vehicle on Sept. 20 just before 3 a.m. on South 10th Ave. at South Flax Plant Rd. for traffic violations.
As the deputy approached the car, the driver hit the gas and sped off. The deputy didn't chase the green Cadillac, but radioed in the car description to other deputies in the area.
Another deputy saw the car traveling northbound on South10th Ave. and tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop, leading the deputy on a pursuit.
The driver threw multiple items out of the car as a chase continued down the road. Eventually the driver stopped at NW Susbauer Rd. and NW Hobbs Rd.
Kyle Martin, from Beaverton, was arrested without further incident. Deputies found money he had thrown from the vehicle and five ounces of marijuana in the car.
Martin was booked in the Washington County Jail on charges of attempting to elude police, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person, and offensive littering.
Additional charges could be filed as the sheriff's office continues their investigation.
