Syracuse,NY : Well-known chef from Skaneateles charged with vehicular manslaughter in Cayuga County on March, Wednesday 21th 2018

A well-known, award-winning Central New York chef was charged Wednesday with vehicular manslaughter, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office.

The chef, Stephen S. Landon, of 792 Britcher Road in Skaneateles, was also charged with two counts of vehicular assault, aggravated driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated, consumption of alcohol in a vehicle and failure to keep right, deputies said.

On March 3, Landon was driving north on Rt. 34 in his 2016 Honda Accord when the vehicle crossed the center line, crashing into an oncoming southbound car in the town of Fleming, deputies said.

Travis Manwaring, 25, of Auburn, the driver of the southbound car, died at the scene. Three passengers in his car suffered non-life threatening injuries, deputies said.

Landon had been drinking before the crash, which was reported at 9:33 p.m. that Saturday near Fleming-Scipio Town Line Road, deputies said.
