Nimishillen Township, OH : A serious injury traffic crash that occurred just after 4:30 p.m. Friday on May 9th 2014
Ohio State Highway Patrol deputies are investigating a serious injury traffic crash that occurred just after 4:30 p.m. Friday.
The crash occurred on Columbus Road Northeast at Pilot Knob Avenue, Nimishillen Township, in Stark County.
Deputies say Michael L. Duran, 22, of Louisville, Ohio, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier northbound on Pilot Knob Avenue and failed to stop at a stop sign.
The vehicle was struck by a 2004 Thompson school bus traveling westbound on Columbus Road. driven by Patricia L. Metzger, 61, of Louisville, Ohio.
There were no children on the bus at the time of the crash.
Duran was taken to Mercy Medical Center by Nimishillen Township firefighters with serious injuries.
Duran's passenger, Kenneth G. Southers, 22, of Louisville, Ohio, also sustained serious injuries in the crash and was taken to Mercy Medical Center by Nimishillen Township Fire. Neither was wearing a seatbelt.
Metzger and her passenger, Patty L. Zorger, 63, of Alliance were not injured. Metzer was using safety restraints.
Alcohol appears to be a factor in this crash.
