Two people were killed Saturday evening and early Sunday in traffic crashes in Dallas, police said.
About 4:30 a.m. Sunday, a 25-year-old woman was driving on southbound U.S. Highway 75 at Walnut Hill Lane in North Dallas when her vehicle ran out of gas in the middle lane.
While she waited on the shoulder for her friends to arrive, a motorcyclist also traveling in the center lane struck the back of her vehicle, police said.
The man and his passenger were thrown from the motorcycle. The 34-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene. His passenger was transported to Texas Health Presbyterian of Dallas where he was placed in a medically induced coma, police said.
Police plan to submit a charge of criminally negligent homicide for a grand jury referral.
