Monterey, CA : 3 People Injured, Including 2 with Major Injuries after 2 cars collide on Highway 68 at Canyon Del Rey Boulevard on Tuesday, April 28, 2015

A head-on crash involving two vehicles shut down the Monterey-Salinas Highway at Canyon Del Rey Boulevard for about an hour on Tuesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Two people were ejected from their vehicle and a man was briefly pinned underneath one vehicle, according to witnesses. The driver was unresponsive but breathing and was later transported via ambulance to a local hospital.

For about an hour, traffic was jammed on the highway and Canyon Del Rey. Garden Road near Olmsted Road, where traffic was being diverted, also had heavy traffic.

The highway reopened shortly after 5 p.m., CHP reported.
