Greeley, CO : Drag race on U.S. 34 ends in crash for Greeley men on Wednesday, 7th September 2016
Two drivers involved in what police call a “speed contest” were cited for reckless driving after their vehicles crashed on U.S. 34 in central Greeley.
About 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Greeley police were called to the crash in the 2500 block of U.S. 34. Officers found a black Pontiac G-6 and a gray VW Jetta that had gone off the road and through the fence on the south side of the highway, according to a Greeley police news release.
Investigators determined the vehicles were involved in a speed contest. One of them lost control and sideswiped the other vehicle, sending them both off the road and through the fence, the release stated.
There were no injuries to the two drivers of the vehicles or the two passengers who were in one of the vehicles.
Police cited David Flores, 19, of Greeley for reckless driving and participating in a speed contest. Police cited Isael De Luna, 16, of Greeley for the same charges, as well as violation of restrictions on a temporary permit. De Luna also is known as Isael Garcia, the release stated.
