Fort Collins, CO : Man hospitalized in South College crash on Sunday night, April 10, 2016
Fort Collins police released details Monday about the two-car crash that shut down part of South College Avenue and sent one man to the hospital Sunday night.
The crash occurred about 10:45 p.m. when 23-year-old Jacob Wasinger was driving a silver Mazda south on College Avenue and turned left onto Trilby Road on a yellow light, assistant chief Jerry Schiager said. A black Cadillac Escalade driven by 21-year-old Louis Hernandez-Tremillo, heading north on College, collided with the Mazda.
Hernandez-Tremillo was taken to the UCHealth Emergency Department on Harmony Road for injuries. Both men were cited -- Wasinger for careless driving and Hernandez-Tremillo for no proof of insurance. College Avenue was shut down at the crash site until at least 11:30 p.m., because of debris from the collision.
