A driver was killed in a wreck Sunday morning on Cecil B. Ashburn Drive, police said. At 9:38, a Buick LaSabre heading east near the Nature Preserve crossed the center line and collided with a Honda minivan traveling west, Huntsville police said. The Buick caught fire, and the Honda came to a stop, resting on the driver's side against a guard rail. Several witnesses pulled the unidentified driver of the burning Buick, police said. Three of the four Honda passengers were able to get out, but the female driver was trapped until Huntsville Fire & Rescue extracted her. But as soon as the driver was taken out of the vehicle, the firefighters could no longer detect her vital signs. She was taken to Huntsville Hospital where she died, police said. Police reported the wreck closed the mountain roadway at 9:54 a.m. between Donegal Drive and Old Big Cove Road. It was reopened at 1:35 p.m. Source : Female driver killed in collision on Cecil B.
