Lakeland, FL : Motorcyclist killed in a crash on Interstate 275 in the outside center lane on Sunday, May 8, 2016

A Lakeland man was involved in a crash that killed a motorcyclist, the Florida Highway Patrol said Monday.

About 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Robert Cook, 48, of Lakeland was sitting northbound on Interstate 275 in the outside center lane approaching milepost 43, said Sgt. Steve Gaskins of FHP. He was stopped because of an earlier crash ahead that stopped traffic.

Rafael Barboza, 54, of Lithia, was riding his 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on I-275 and didn't stop for the other stopped traffic, FHP said.

Barboza collided partially with the rear of Cook's 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck, then fully struck the rear of a 2009 Toyota Corolla driven by Mary Naroz Fanos.

This propelled Fanos, 33, of Jacksonville, forward, causing her to slam into a vehicle driven by Lakia Hill, 33, of Riverview, Gaskins said.

Cook, Hill and Fanos were all uninjured. Barboza died at the scene.

FHP said It is unknown why Barboza didn't stop.
