Gainesville, FL : Newberry man dies in crash on Thursday, December 22nd 2016

A 73-year-old Newberry man died in a traffic accident Thursday evening in Gilchrist County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Robert Weber died in 7 p.m. accident that involved three vehicles, an FHP news release said.

Another driver, Tyler Larae Jordan Black, 25, of Bell, was listed in serious condition at UF Health Shands Hospital.

Troopers said three vehicles were driving west on State Road 26, when the first slowed to make a left turn onto Southeast 83rd Court. During the turn, the second car struck the first, and the third car hit the second.

Weber was driving the second car in the pileup, Black was driving the car that was trying to turn left. The driver of the third car, Dean E. Frier, 59, of Newberry, was also in serious condition at Shands, the release said.
