VIRGINIA BEACH, VA : 1 killed in single-vehicle crash at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront on Monday, 15th March 2021

A man was killed after his vehicle hit a guardrail and a tree at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront early Monday morning, police said in a news release.

The crash happened around 2:15 a.m. in the 8300 Block of Atlantic Avenue.

Dispatchers received a call about a single-vehicle accident in the area.

Police said that based on their preliminary investigation, the man was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee that hit a guardrail and a tree before stopping in a yard.

The man was not wearing a seat belt, and the crash threw him from the driver’s seat to the back of the vehicle, police said. He died at the scene.

The crash is being investigated by Virginia Beach Fatal Crash Team.

Police did not say how old the man was or identify him.
