Barberton ,OH : One person killed after fiery fatal car crash on Wednesday ,August 12th 2015

Barberton police are investigating a fiery fatal car crash that killed one person on West State Street.

The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of West State Street and Hiram Street.

According to witnesses, the car was traveling south on West State Street, speeding on a flat tire. Witnesses said they could hear the car approaching the area long before the crash.

The driver went off the right side of the road at the intersection of Hiram Street and struck a traffic light pole. After hitting the pole, the car crashed into a small rock wall and tree before overturning and catching fire in the front yard of a home.

Responding firefighters quickly put the fire out and began to work with heavy tools to cut the car open and get the driver out.

After about 25 minutes the driver was pulled from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.

The Summit County Medical Examiner responded and will determine the cause of death.

Residents in the area say car crashes at the intersection are a common thing and that speeding is the main problem. The speed limit on that stretch of road is 35 mph.
