STOCKTON, CA : Car pinned beneath big rig in dramatic crash on Friday, September 22nd 2017
A woman suffered major injuries Friday after her car got pinned underneath a flatbed trailer during a crash, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Authorities said a semitruck with a flatbed trailer had made a left turn onto West Highway 99 Frontage Road from Loomis Road when the crash happened. The trailer was in the northbound lane but had not cleared the southbound lanes when a Nissan Maxima approached from the south reportedly at a high rate of speed, the CHP said.
The Maxima collided with the trailer and got wedged underneath.
The CHP said a nearby business provided a forklift to help emergency crews lift the trailer from the car and rescue the woman. No other injuries were reported.
The CHP is still investigating the cause of the crash, but the agency said the Maxima did not leave any skid marks on the road. The woman, who authorities have not identified, did not have a license, officials said.
No other details about the crash were available by deadline Friday.
