BEAUMONT, MS : Two killed, one injured in Beaumont car accident on Monday, October, 16th 2017

Two people were killed and one person was taken to a hospital by helicopter after a car accident in Beaumont on Sunday.

According to Beaumont Police Chief Wayne Penton, Melvin and Betty Byrd were attempting to cross Highway 98 from Beaumont Brooklyn Road around 1:00 p.m. when they were struck by a vehicle traveling towards them on the highway.

The driver of the vehicle that struck them was not injured, but the passenger in their vehicle was.

Melvin and Betty were pronounced dead from injuries sustained during the accident.

The passenger taken to the hospital by helicopter was listed in stable condition with minor injuries, according to Penton.

Beaumont police continue to investigate the accident.
