Bluefield, W.V : One airlifted following head-on collision in Princeton on Sunday evening, July 31, 2016

One person had be taken to the hospital by helicopter after two pickup trucks collided head-on on Athens Road about 6 p.m., Sunday evening.

Traffic was backed up in both directions when the road was closed as first-responders worked to extract at least one of the injured.

Two others reportedly had to be taken to Princeton Community Hospital. The condition of any of the injured is not yet known.

The helicopter landed at Hunnicutt Field in Princeton to pick up one of the injured.

Princeton Police Department is investigating. The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department assisted as did the Princeton and East River fire departments.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Athens Rd. and Northview Avenue. No other details are yet available.
