Potosi, MO : 2 people injured in semi-trailer-truck crashes into car in Potosi on Wednesday, February 4, 2015
A car stopped in a traffic lane to make a turn was rear-ended Wednesday by a semi-trailer-truck in Potosi, injuring the two people in the car, the Grant County Sheriff's Office reported.
The crash happened at about 8:20 p.m. on Highway 61 at the entrance to the parking lot of Potosi High School, the sheriff's office said in a news release.
According to the sheriff's office:
Driver Noah Groom, 15, and his mother Tara Groom, 38, both of rural Potosi, were northbound on Highway 61, with the car stopped to make a left turn into the lot, when the truck driven by Pavel Babeshkov, 46, of College Dale, Tennessee, struck the car from behind.
The car was pushed about 100 feet down the highway, but the Grooms only suffered minor injuries. Babeshkov was not injured.
Highway 61 was closed for about an hour while crews worked at the scene, with traffic rerouted through town.
Babeshkov was cited for inattentive driving.
