Port Angeles,WA : Port Townsend man hurt in wreck remains in serious condition on June, Thursday 1st 2017
A Port Townsend man injured in a motorcycle wreck as he allegedly fled from sheriff’s deputies remained in serious condition in a Seattle hospital Thursday.
Michael Thomas, 28, was immediately transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition after the wreck that occurred Monday night just after 6:30 p.m. on the corner of Jacob Miller Road and Hastings Avenue in Port Townsend.
On Thursday, Thomas remained in serious condition in the intensive care unit, said Susan Gregg, director of media relations for Harborview.
East Jefferson Fire-Rescue said Thomas suffered multiple injuries including broken femurs, a broken arm and possible internal injuries due to hitting several trees during the crash.
Just before the wreck, Thomas had failed to yield to an emergency vehicle and deputies attempted to make a traffic stop, according to Chief Criminal Deputy Arthur Frank of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Frank said Thomas sped away from pursuing deputies instead of pulling over on Jacob Miller Road and crashed while attempting to turn west onto Hastings Avenue.
No charges have been filed.
“The collision is still being investigated by JCSO and when completed the case will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office if warranted,” Frank said in an email Thursday.
