Kenai Peninsula, AK : 1 hurt in 4-vehicle crash on Wednesday, January 11th 2017
The accident on the David Douthit Veterans Memorial Bridge in Soldotna on Wednesday involved four vehicles, according to Soldotna Police Chief Peter Mlynarik.
The crash occurred when a vehicle pulled out onto the Sterling Highway heading south and did not yield to a car coming behind it, Mlynarik said. That vehicle tried to drive around the first one, and the two hit each other, he said. This sent the second vehicle into the center lane where it hit a third vehicle that was waiting to turn, which was pushed into the northbound lane, where it was hit by a fourth vehicle.
All of the vehicles except for the one that had pulled onto the highway had to be towed from the scene, Mlynarik said.
The bridge was cleared by shortly after noon, he said.
