NORTH PORT, FL : Man in critical collision after North Port crash on Wednesday, 18th July 2018

A wet River Road contributed to a collision that left one man in critical condition Wednesday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, William Woddbury, 29, of Port Charlotte was driving a 2008 Ford F-250 southbound on River Road, south of U.S. 41, in the left lane when the truck hydroplaned on the wet road and flipped, crossing the northbound traffic lanes. In the process, the truck hit the roof of a 1999 Mercedes that was traveling northbound.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 58-year-old Englewood man, was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital in critical condition after the crash. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
