Salem,OR : Salem woman dies in single-vehicle crash on Highway 22 on January, Wednesday 17th 2018
A Salem woman has been identified as the driver who died in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 22 Wednesday night.
Lauren Beasley, 21, was traveling westbound on Highway 22 west of Salem around 10:10 p.m. when her silver 2005 Honda CRV veered off the road, struck a guardrail in the westbound lane, crossed into the eastbound lane of travel, and struck a tree down a 20-foot embankment on the eastbound shoulder.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Oregon State Police.
Officials believe speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
The eastbound lane was closed for roughly five hours while officials cleared the scene.
Polk County Fire, Sheridan Fire, Oregon Department of Transportation, Polk County Sheriff's Office and the Polk County Medical Examiner's Office assisted Oregon State Police.
