Honolulu, HI : Man killed in an early tuesday morning hit-and-run in Waianae on September 16, 2014

A 58-year-old man died Tuesday when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver on Farrington Highway in Waianae. Hawaii News Now reports a woman was later taken into custody. Honolulu police say the fatally injured man was from Makaha. Police say he was walking near a Taco Bell when he was struck by a Nissan pickup. Officers at 12:45 a.m. found him critically injured near a crosswalk. He was transported to Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center, where he died. Witnesses described the truck.
