Orlando, FL : DeLand man was killed in a head-on collision on Sunday, June 4, 2017

DeLand man was killed in a head-on collision Sunday morning after he was ejected from a vehicle, troopers said.

Jay Sanders, 27, and Lauren Luckie, 26, both of DeLand, were in an SUV traveling east on State Road 44, troopers said.

The vehicle, which Luckie was driving, crossed into the westbound lanes of the road and struck a Hyundai head-on, a trooper’s crash report states.

Sanders was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, troopers said.

Luckie sustained serious injuries and was taken to Halifax Medical Center.

Steven and Joy Lamar, also of DeLand, were in the other vehicle and sustained minor injuries.

The crash occurred near where State Road 44 and County Road 42 intersect, which is east of Lake Mack and west of DeLand.

Investigators were called to the scene at 7:20 a.m.

Troopers are still investigating the collision.
