LINCOLN, R.I : 21-year-old man killed in a crash on Wednesday night July 9th 2014
A crash Wednesday night that left a vehicle upside down on the south side of Route 99 has killed one person and left the operator in critical condition, Rhode Island State Police said in a news release.
A blue Subaru Impreza, traveling southbound at around 9:25 p.m., was in the left travel lane on Route 99 before Sayles Hill Road when it veered across the right travel lane and exited the roadway. The Subaru struck a rock ledge, rolled over and came to rest in the left travel lane on its roof, the state police said.
Both occupants were wearing seatbelts. Aarron M. Harmon, 22, of Bellingham, Mass., is listed in critical condition at Rhode Island Hospital. The front passenger, Simon Ratsamy, 21, of Woonsocket, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
A preliminary investigation indicates that speed may have been a factor, according to police.
