St. George, UT : Teacher struck, killed by truck while jogging on Friday, July 25, 2014
A popular St. George teacher has been struck and killed by a truck while jogging.
Police say Dixie Middle School science teacher Terri Lusk was jogging with a friend when the accident occurred Friday.
She was taken to a St. George hospital, where she died.
Police Officer Derek Lewis told The Spectrum of St. George that the male driver of the truck stopped, and the glare of the sun is believed to be a factor in the 7:30 a.m. accident.
Washington County School District Superintendent Larry Bergeson told The Salt Lake Tribune that Lusk was a "great teacher" who had been with the district at least 14 years, with two children in the school system.
The accident is under investigation.
Lusk's friend escaped injury.
