Boston, MA : Shrewsbury police investigating fatal car-tractor trailer crash On Saturday, November 19th, 2016
On Saturday, November 19th, 2016 at 12:53 A.M. the Shrewsbury Police responded to 307 Hartford Turnpike (Rt. 20), in front of Flynn’s Truck Stop for a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival Shrewsbury Police determined the vehicles involved were a 2007 Infinity G35 and a tandem tractor trailer owned by United Parcel Service. Shrewsbury Fire Department and University of Mass EMS responded. The lone occupant of the Infiniti, Robert A. Santana, 27 Y.O. of Boston, Ma. was transported to U-Mass Medical Center in Worcester where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The operator of the tractor trailer, Lancelot O. Bradshaw, 40 Y.O. of Plainfield, N.J. was not injured.
Shrewsbury Police determined that the Infiniti was traveling West on Rt. 20 when it struck the tandem tractor trailer which was also traveling West on Rt. 20. The Infiniti collided with the left side of one of the tractors trailers where it then lost control and spun across the East bound lane of Rt. 20 and then left the roadway. Once leaving the roadway the Infiniti then collided with a parked trailer where it came to a rest.
Sgt. Michael A. O’Connor and Ryan Chartrand of the Shrewsbury Police who are also members of the Central Mass Law Enforcement Crash Team are investigating the crash. Also assisting are the Massachusetts State Police Truck Team and Worcester County District Attorney’s Joseph D. Early’s office. Route 20 was closed for approximately 4 hours to investigate the crash. No charges have been filed as of yet as the investigation continues.
