Monroeville, PA : 87-year-old woman fatally struck by elderly driver in western Pennsylvania store parking lot on Tuesday, Nov 3, 2015

Police say it appears an 87-year-old woman run down by an elderly driver in a suburban Pittsburgh parking lot was the victim of a "tragic accident."

Still, an autopsy was set Wednesday on the body of Betty Israel, of Monroeville, and police in that suburb 15 miles of Pittsburgh say they're trying to figure out how the driver ran over the victim.

Monroeville police Chief Doug Cole says Israel was leaving a Giant Eagle supermarket when she was hit by the sport-utility vehicle about 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Bystanders began CRP before emergency crews arrived to pull the victim from beneath the vehicle which had come to rest on top of her.

Cole says the driver has been cooperating with investigators and that no charges have been filed against her.
