One killed in Benicia rollover crash on California

Investigation of a fatal rollover crash on Interstate Highway 680 in Benicia Wednesday afternoon that left one person dead has created a massive traffic jam during the evening commute, according to the California Highway Patrol.The crash was reported around 2:50 p.m. on northbound Highway 680 near the Industrial Way exit.Initial reports indicated that a pickup truck driving south Highway 680 crashed into the center divider and overturned, ending up in the northbound lanes, according to the CHP.The truck's driver, who was alone in the car, became trapped and was pronounced dead at the scene, a CHP officer said.Clean up after the crash blocked the slow lane on northbound Highway 680 until all lanes were reopened at around 4:40 p.m., according to CHP. Motorists were being advised to take Interstate Highway 780 as an alternate route until traffic dissipates.
