Liberal, KS : 62-year-old man killed in a head-on crash with a semi on U.S. 54 in Seward County on Tuesday morning, September 27, 2016

A 62-year-old man from Liberal was killed in a head-on crash with a semi Tuesday morning west of Liberal.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol crash log, Michael W. Riedel was driving a passenger car east on U.S. 54 in Seward County about 12 miles west of Liberal when he crossed the center line at 7:21 a.m. and collided with a semi driven by Guillermo Pimentel, 57, of Conroe, Texas.

Riedel was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash log reported Pimentel was injured but doesn't indicate that he was taken anywhere for medical care.
