A Bronx, N.Y., man was killed and four others were injured early Thursday after a tractor-trailer collided with three other vehicles on the Massachusetts Turnpike.
Robert Epps, 41, died from injuries suffered in the crash, according to a release from Massachusetts State Police. The wreck occurred around 2:40 a.m. in the eastbound lane of Interstate 90 in Blandford. A Portsmouth, R.I., man was traveling eastbound in a Volvo tandem tractor-trailer when he lost control of the rig, colliding with a 2010 International tractor trailer also traveling eastbound. Two other vehicles — a 2016 Isuzu box truck and a 2016 Dodge Ram pickup — were also struck, according to a preliminary investigation by State Police Trooper Steffan Welch.
Epps, the driver of the Isuzu box truck, was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield where he was pronounced dead.
Four people were injured: the driver of the tandem track-trailer, the driver of the International tractor trailer, a 55-year-old Buffalo, N.Y., man, the driver of the pickup, a 55-year-old man from Houston, and a 38-year-old female passenger in the pickup.
All were transported to Baystate Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
